These are just some of the features and benefits that you get from an Xtreme Earth sleeping bag...
Stuff / Compression Sack The supplied stuff sack is designed so that you can easily stuff the sleeping bag back in after use. It is also designed so that you can compress the sleeping bag by pulling on the 4 side pull straps. When stuffing your sleeping bag into the provided stuff / compression sack, it is best to actually stuff the sleeping bag in rather than roll it (as supplied when new). The reason for this is that it will compress much better when stuffed into the sack (approximately half the original hight). To get the best compression rates we recommend the following technique...
This technique should result in a heavily compressed sleeping bag. You may sometimes find that the sleeping bag bulges at one side. If this happens, loosen that strap opposite the bulge a little and 'roll' the sack to even the pressure a bit, then kneel back on the top of the sack and re tighten both straps. This should give you a more even compression. Offset Layered construction The stitching that holds the hollow fibre in place can often be a place of weakness in the thermal abilities of a sleeping bag by stitching from the outer shell right through to the inner shell, allowing cold air through the stitches into the sleeping bag. Offset layering reduces this weakness dramatically by creating a stitch through the fibres on the outside of the sleeping bag and then a separate stitch from the inside in another place, offset to the outer stitch (as per the image). Zipper Baffle The zipper baffle is designed to keep any cold air coming through the zip into the airspace in the sleeping bag, as well as to keep the warm body heat in. We have added a 'quad stitch' to the baffle to stiffen it up without adding any real weight, in order to reduce the amount of zip snagging. To best reduce the risk of snagging, zip from the inside of the bag. |
